Animated supers set Toyota Type in motion by using text animation and coloring that align with our end tag look and feel.

Supers Toolkit
Supers Toolkit

To make things easier, we designed a toolkit with nine premade templates in white and black text with lighting effects. Download the toolkit here.

Choosing a Lighting Effect Intensity

Each super in the toolkit is available in Original, Subtle and Very Subtle lighting intensities. Select the best option based on background footage. The more complex the footage, the more subtle the lighting effect should be.

Custom Supers
Custom Supers

Custom supers can be created by applying motion to any super created with our typesetting guidelines. Our style is made up of four motion principles that can be used separately or together.

Direction of Movement

Use directional movement to create energy. For example, a super moving from left to right shows forward progress. A super moving from bottom to top appears uplifting. A super zooming from back to front adds impact. Conversely, avoid motion that shows the supers moving backward, falling downward or shrinking.

Easing In and Out

Easing in and out makes a movement appear less jarring. Instead of an abrupt start and stop, easing uses acceleration and deceleration to start slowly, speed up gradually, and then slow again to a gentle stop. Think of it like a driver easing onto the gas and then easing on the brakes.

Offset and Delay

Instead of moving in perfect synchronization, multi-element supers may be staggered. Adding a slight delay to subsequent elements, like a second or third line of text, creates an intriguing and satisfying effect that resolves one after another, like a line of cars arriving at a destination.

Mask Reveals

Masks may be used for an element to be gradually revealed, such as a line being drawn on or text appearing from behind an invisible wall. This effect provides a more subtle option for an element to appear mid-screen without traveling the full distance from the screen’s edge.

End Tag Transition
End Tag Transition

All supers should fade out properly before the end tag animation. Follow the guidelines below to get it just right.

All Supers Fade Out

Supers and logos must fade out before the end tag fades on. Ensure that no two logos appear on screen at the same time.

Include One Clear Frame

Include at least one clear frame of picture between supers and the start of the end tag animation.

End Tag Animation Begins

The end tag starts after the clear frame. Keep end tag animation clear of URLs, hashtags and legal text.

The toolkit is an optional resource to help you get started but you can always create your own supers using our motion style. Refer to the guidelines above.

The Supers Toolkit is available in both Flame and Premiere.

Animated supers add energy and expression when there’s a simpler background with not much action happening on screen. Static supers work better over complex footage and backgrounds. When creating any super, follow our Typography Guidelines.

URLs, hashtags and legal text supers should follow our Typesetting Guidelines.
